& Other Stories' newest collab has arrived& Other Stories

2023 has already been one *helluva* year for cool fashion collaborations. From Sydney Sweeney's range with Frankie's Bikinis to H&M's hyped Mugler partnership - our diaries are filling up with releases to have on our radar, and now we've got another one to add to the list. & Other Stories has joined forces with South African designer Sindiso Khumalo for a beautiful range available to shop today (AKA, just in time for summer), and it's already selling out.

For those unfamiliar with the brand, Sindiso's eponymous label is all about embracing vibrant colours and prints, with sustainability and African culture at its heart. As for what you can expect from the upcoming collab, it's basically your one-stop holiday shopping destination. Think: loose midi and mini dresses in warm, sunkissed hues, relaxed coords, and delicately crafted details. Each component is carefully considered and there are meaningful references hidden throughout the collection.

"As an African designer, what truly matters to me is designing clothing that can highlight my African heritage and history and bring it to light in a contemporary setting," says Sindiso Khumalo. "I like to bring cultural elements that represent who I am into textiles. They become visual vignettes that frame our collections."

When you look at individual items, even the smallest details are considered. For example, the range features "a pepper red colour taken from the traditional Zulu Nkehli, which is adorned on a Zulu bride on her wedding day," explains a press release released by & Other Stories.

"And the cowrie shell, seen in print and the accessories, represents prosperity, wealth and good fortune in both African and Afro-Caribbean cultures."

The collection also takes into account the materials used, such as organic cotton, recycled cotton, linen, and recycled brass. "The starting point for the co-lab collection was working with materials that were sourced in a more sustainable way," adds Sindiso. "It’s essential for me to use more sustainable materials and to create garments that are going to be long-lasting."
