The Pioneer Woman Shared a Peek at Her Gorgeous Garden Beds

’Tis the season where gardens are in full bloom and veggies are starting to peek out from behind their leaves, and The Pioneer Woman’s lush garden is both a gardener and a cook’s dream. The TV and cookbook personality shared a look at her gorgeous raised garden beds at her Oklahoma ranch on Instagram over the weekend, and the space is so neatly organized that you can’t help but to feel at peace when you’re gazing out into the greenery.

From the IG video, It looks like The Pioneer Woman (whose real name is Ree Drummond) is mostly growing edible greens, which makes sense seeing as she’s a whiz in the kitchen. Her beds are filled with lush edibles like tomatoes, chives, basil, rosemary, and lavender, which can be used in savory and sweet dishes as well as for summertime mock- and cocktails.

“The red scissors stand out like a sore thumb, but here’s my happy place,” Drummond wrote in the caption on the recent Instagram video.

Back in February, Drummond edited together a short video of the process she and her team went through to bring these raised garden beds to fruition. It took a lot of clearing, building, and patience to turn an unused side yard into the garden of her dreams.

“I will have my vengeance … in this garden or the next,” Drummond captioned that post nearly 13 weeks ago. “It’s been a long dry spell, and my soul is hungry for it. (Remind me in July how excited I was about this, please. …)”

It’s now nearly July, but Drummond doesn’t seem to be tired of the upkeep yet!

There are so many reasons why choosing raised beds over traditional in-ground gardening may work best for you. Firstly, they’re easier to care for because you don’t have to bend down as far to garden, and you’ll find less weeds coming up in your soil (especially if you prep correctly). The soil in your raised beds can be of a better quality compared with the ground soil on your property, and you can provide more drainage for plants by layering rocks or different soil types at the bottom of the beds.

Plus, the soil warms faster for more efficient growing, and you’ll experience better water retention when you give your plants a drink.
