Pitti Uomo Street Style: Jean Shorts Reign Supreme

Classic men’s wear like summer suiting, linen button-down shirts and Italian leather footwear are tradition at Pitti Uomo, the bi-annual men’s trade show in Florence. The street style at the latest edition, held June 11-14, showed the more casual side of men’s fashion, however.

Many attendees wore jean shorts (a.k.a. jorts) to beat the heat. Though jorts have been trending on the runway, with labels like Prada and Louis Vuitton showing the summer staple in 2024 collections, Pitti Uomo attendees put their own spin on the summer staple. Cutoffs, extra-long lengths, vintage pairs and deconstructed proved there are many ways to interpret the trend.

The once-coveted Supreme logo made a comeback on T-shirts and on the exposed bands of boxer briefs. Button-down shirts with graffiti prints, slogan tees, frayed denim and bleached out denim jackets hinted to a bigger return of streetwear.

Others opted for a normcore look, pairing Hawaiian shirts with denim bucket hats and utility vests with paint-splattered jeans.

It being Pitti Uomo, there were still plenty of classic denim looks. Attendees spruced up straight fit jeans and white tees with lightweight layers like pinstripe blazers and open-knit button-down shirts. Others styled denim shirts with pleated trousers.
