Pizza Hut Just Dropped a Brand-New Pizza for Thin Crust Fans

Pizza Hut has a brand-new pizza on its menu — and thin-crust fans are gonna be excited.

On Tuesday, the pizza chain announced the addition of its Chicago Tavern-Style Pizza, and Pizza Hut says makes it's the first "global pizza chain" to offer such a pie. But that's not all. The chain is also dropping brand-new toppings that include Chicken Sausage, Pesto Swirl, and Spicy Sauce, all of which are now part of its permanent menu.

“These menu additions represent a bold step forward as part of our culinary mission to bring our guests modern innovation that embraces what we know our customers are loving and looking for in a pizza. Tavern is not just a pizza; it is a culinary trend that reflects the excitement of today’s pizza scene,” Rachel Antalek, the chief food innovation officer at Pizza Hut, shared in a statement provided to Food & Wine. “We perfected these recipes to truly pay homage to Chicago and the hundred-year-old style in a modern way while pushing the boundaries of what's possible in a pizza with fresh new toppings and flavors.”

As Pizza Hut explained, the tavern-style pizza dates back to the 1930s, when it became a staple in Chicago taverns as a go-to snack that was usually offered for free alongside alcohol (think tapas, Chicago-style). And the chain is bringing this style to the masses to share all that "abundant flavor."

The new pizza will be available in four varieties, each of which comes on a "square-cut Thin ‘N Crispy crust." These include Pesto Margherita, The Ultimate, Spicy Chicken Sausage, and Double Pepperoni.

Pizza Hut shared that the Ultimate is a "topped to the edge with sausage, pepperoni, fire-roasted peppers, onions, grape tomatoes and parmesan-oregano seasoning." The Spicy Chicken Sausage includes "spicy marinara, chicken sausage, fire-roasted peppers, caramelized onions, and parmesan-oregano seasoning."

The Double Pepperoni is topped with a combination "of sweet marinara, classic pepperoni, and crispy cupped pepperoni," while the Pesto Margherita features "sweet marinara, grape tomatoes, garlic, and basil pesto."

But again, there's more. There are also those eight brand-new toppings, which include the aforementioned Chicken Sausage, Pesto Swirl, and Spicy Sauce, along with Diced Garlic, Grape Tomatoes, Caramelized Onions, Fire Roasted Peppers, and Crispy Cupped Pepperoni. Customers can try them on the new Tavern-Style pizzas or on any pizza they wish. So yeah, it's a good day to order pizza.
