New pizza restaurant offering ‘off-the-wall creations’ and beer coming to Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A new pizza restaurant is opening on Perkins Road this summer.
Var’s Pizza, 3030 Perkins Road, is aiming to open in July. According to Baton Rouge chef Danny Wilson, it will be unique.
The new dining option is taking the place of the former Unleaded BBQ, which closed this year.
According to the restaurant’s Instagram page, Var’s is a local pizza and beer joint. The menu will feature “off-the-wall” flavor combinations, including boudin and cracklin’, Nashville hot chicken and fig, prosciutto and hot honey, Wilson said in a social media post.
Var’s will also offer salads, appetizers, a kid’s menu and dessert pizzas.

“Var’s is gonna be something special — a pizza spot with late-night dive bar vibes, open late with awesome by-the-slice deals,” said Wilson.
The chef also said he is looking for energetic front-of-house employees.
