A new report has finally shed some light on the death of Treat Williams, who passed away on June 12 following a fatal motorcycle accident in Vermont. He was 71.

According to a news release shared on Tuesday, Aug. 1, Vermont State Police confirmed Williams' cause of death as "severe trauma and blood loss," as determined by the Medical Examiner's Office in New York.

The news comes just one day after the family of the late Everwood star shared an emotional post to his Instagram account, documenting the Celebration of Life ceremony held in his honor.

"As time passes, the grief doesn’t get any easier, but life is fragile," the post read. "We are trying to live every day like it’s our last, and appreciate the time on this beautiful planet that we are lucky to call home."

"Here’s a picture from Treat’s Celebration of Life of the family 🤍," the caption continued, alongside a photo of his wife Pamela Van Sant, with their two children, Gill, 31, and Ellie, 24. Their two family dogs also made a cameo for the snap, as the family posed in front of a truck filled with flowers.

Following the initial news of Williams' death, which was confirmed by his longtime agent Barry McPherson at the time, a follow-up statement from police revealed that the Hair actor was "unable to avoid a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle."

"He suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead," the statement also explained.

In Tuesday's new update, Vermont State authorities noted that the man driving the vehicle that collided with Williams was issued "a citation on a charge of grossly negligent operation with death resulting." The man is set to be arraigned in September in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court.
