  • According to People, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have felt "helpless" amid the global coronavirus pandemic and have dedicated their time to helping those most affected by the novel virus.

  • The Sussexes have worked with the charity Project Angel Food to help deliver meals to those who cannot leave their homes during the health crisis.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are prioritizing helping those affected by COVID-19, even as they settle into their new life in Los Angeles.

According to People, the royal couple have felt "helpless" as the effects of the global pandemic continue to sink in. And even though the pair are following government orders to self-quarantine at home to help stop the spread of the novel virus, they do feel it necessary to leave their home on occasion to help those in need in their community.

"[Meghan and Harry] felt helpless reading about everything going on and wanted to get out and contribute," a source told the magazine. Since relocating to Los Angeles in March, the couple have stepped out three separate times to work alongside Project Angel Food, helping deliver meals to immunocompromised individuals in the area. According to another source for the outlet, the Sussexes leave their home only "for charity work."

As a source previously told BAZAAR.com, the Sussexes are "grateful for all of those volunteers, and inspired by the frontline workers, essential workers, and people everywhere who are committed to responding to needs of their communities in this crisis.”

People reports that Meghan and Harry embarked on a tour of Project Angel Food to learn more about the organization ahead of their first food delivery.

"They were interested in every single person they met," explained Richard Ayoub, the charity's executive director. "They asked a lot of questions about the clients, about how the food is done and how much food is made. We talked about how the meals are medically-tailored and geared towards each client, they met with our chefs and then we gave them all our social distancing protocols for the deliveries and they wore gloves and makes and they kept six feet away."
