Princeton bar is celebrating 40th anniversary with a custom beer. Here's how to get it

For four decades, Winberie's has been a Princeton destination for a cold one, serving nearly 20 local craft beers on draft.

Now it's launching one of its own.

The Palmer Square American restaurant and bar partnered with Lakewood's Icarus Brewing Company to release a limited-edition brew in honor of Winberie's 40th anniversary.

The WinbIcarus is a hazy double IPA crafted with a heavy dose of wheat and oats to smooth out the hop bitterness and add a subtle sweetness. It has a hint of pine, complemented by notes of tropical citrus, cantaloupe and mango.

Winberie's will celebrate the beer from 3 p.m. to sunset on Thursday, June 20, when Icarus Brewing Company will offer samples and raffle off merchandise.

The inspiration behind the beer stems from the restaurant’s first hazy double IPA keg from Icarus Brewing Company that launched at Winberie's in 2021 called Drinking Crayons. It sold out in one day — the fastest sellout in Winberie's history.

Winberie's will soon announce another beer created in collaboration with a local brewery that will also celebrate the anniversary.

From 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, Winberie's will host an outdoor anniversary barbecue with live music and raffles. North Carolina-style pulled pork sliders, fried chicken salad, Cajun macaroni and cheese dogs, potato salad, and Toll House pie squares will be served.
