Queen Elizabeth Just Made a Major Change to Her Staff at Buckingham Palace

Queen Elizabeth just appointed a new staff member for the royal palace, so we’ll just assume our application got lost in the mail.
Buckingham Palace released an official statement earlier today, confirming that Lord Parker of Minsmere KCB will take on the new role as the senior officer of the royal household (AKA Lord Chamberlain).
“The Queen has appointed Andrew Parker, Baron Parker of Minsmere, as Lord Chamberlain to succeed Lord Peel, who will retire on 31 March. Lord Parker will take up his appointment on 1 April 2021,” it read.
Although the Lord Chamberlain role is non-executive and part-time, it holds a lot of responsibility. Not only will Lord Parker now manage the general business of the royal household, but he’ll also act as the middleman for communication between the sovereign and the House of Lords. Oh, he’ll also be responsible for organizing all of the queen’s activities, including garden parties, state visits and royal weddings.
Lord Parker seems like fantastic fit for the position. He’s been part of the Security Service (MI5) for 37 years, serving as Director General from 2013 until 2020. In 2019, he was appointed Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath, so it was only a matter of time before he received the well-deserved promotion.
