Ahead of Rick and Morty season 7’s premiere on October 15, co-creator Dan Harmon has teased his plans for a feature-length movie. And bizarrely, it could involve Justice League director Zack Synder.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Harmon said: “He was totally a super fan and was just like, ‘Is there any way I can help get that movie started by using my Snyder-ness?’ So, the Rick and Morty movie is coming as soon as Zack Snyder gets back from his vacation, because I want to start with a Snyder cut of that movie and then I want to do the director’s cut of a Snyder cut release, so we can just have a six-hour Rick and Morty movie and three hours of it is in black and white.”

Harmon is likely joking about the six-hour runtime, in reference to how Synder released a longer cut of his 2017 Justice League movie in 2021, but his plans for the movie are real.

“My philosophy would be to just take a Rick and Morty adventure, and spend a bunch of extra money on it and make it 90 minutes long,” Harmon says. “I think less is more there because then we can let our animators go nuts, and the animation can be fancier and there can be crazy sequences and stuff.”

In terms of the show, season 7 isn’t the end. Harmon says there are several more seasons in production, with two largely written already. Whatever form it takes, it won’t be with co-creator Justin Roiland. He parted ways with Adult Swim and resigned from Squanch Games after allegations of domestic assault. Harmon also spoke on the Justin Roiland drama previously.
