Rockwall County Library to host plenty of child-friendly entertainment this summer

Jun. 18—Most kids probably look forward to the summer as a time to relax between school years but even the most summer-loving youngsters can grow restless and frequently complain of being "bored" without school activities to keep them occupied.

This is part of the reason why summer reading programs and other programming at libraries can be a big help in keeping young minds stimulated.

At Rockwall County Library, in addition to the regular summer reading program, multiple special guests are scheduled to perform for children aged 5 and older. They include:

— Magician James Wand on June 27, with showtimes at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. His act includes clues, secret codes and plenty of magic as children assist him on a secret mission.

— The Wild and Wacky Science Show on July 11, with showtimes at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Featuring Professor Brainius, the show gives kids a chance to see science in action through experiments that incorporate music and technology.

— Juggler David Slick on July 18, with showtimes at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Slick is a former Guinness World Record holder for juggling three objects continuously for the longest amount of time. His show will consist of comedy, juggling and magic.

— Plano Symphony Orchestra, with showtimes at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The orchestra will be performing selections from well-known movie scores.

— Wildlife on the Move, with showtimes at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wildlife on the Move's team of experienced, fully-insured animal presenters will introduce kids to real-life animals from around the world.
