Ryan Murphy Lands Multiyear Deal with Netflix, and Here's What It Means for Us

Ryan Murphy is making the switch from 21st Century Fox to Netflix, and we aren’t mad about it.

The producer, writer and director just signed a multiyear deal to develop new TV series and movies for Netflix after his longtime contract with 21st Century Fox expires over the summer. Murphy’s first projects will be Ratched and The Politician.

In a statement, the filmmaker revealed that he couldn’t be happier to team up with the streaming service. He said, “I am awash in genuine appreciation for Ted Sarandos, Reed Hastings and Cindy Holland at Netflix for believing in me and the future of my company, which will continue to champion women, minorities and LGBTQ heroes and heroines, and I am honored and grateful to continue my partnership with my friends and peers at Fox on our existing shows.”

Murphy is best known for being the creative genius behind American Crime Story, American Horror Story, Feud, 9-1-1 and the upcoming FX series Pose.

Welp, there goes our social life.
