The news cycle is, at times, inescapable.

Whether it be the doomed submarine of a few weeks ago, or the current drama du jour between Jonah Hill and his surfer ex-girlfriend, Sarah Brady.

Headlines abound, social media feeds are being constantly refreshed, every morsel is being reported on so the public can stay in the loop – anything from the tiniest tidbit to the biggest bombshell to indulge in the saga surrounding an allegedly controlling Hollywood man and his little-known, yet outspoken, surf-loving ex-girlfriend.

And so, here we are. Doing the same. Reporting on said drama after days of avoiding it. (You’ll remember when we last reported on Jonah Hill, showcasing a video of him allegedly dropping in at Malibu on a 14-year-old surfer; it only felt right to keep the story of Jonah’s surfing life alive, despite this strange turn its taken.)

Let’s start with the basics: What’s this drama about?

On July 7th, Brady began sharing screenshots to her Instagram, which allegedly showed text conversations with her then-boyfriend Jonah Hill, who outlined a list of “boundaries” regarding their relationship, and specifically how it pertained to her surfing and social media life. Mainly, Jonah did not want Sarah “surfing with men” or to “post pictures of yourself in a bathing suit,” including her “ass in a thong,” among other stipulations.

That’s pretty much the gist of it. There are many, many screenshots, however the main crux is that Jonah had some “boundaries” for their relationship, and Sarah (along with most of the internet) has come to the conclusion that they were absurd.

Now, who is Sarah Brady?

According to her Instagram bio, she’s a “surfer + law student with a film habit,” she is from Encinitas, California but currently residing in Hawaii, and she’s a third-generation member of the San Onofre Surfing Club, a preservation society for the famed surf spot.

She's also been featured in some surf edits alongside well-known names like Karina Rozunko and Leah Dawson; additionally she's had her hand in some environmental advocacy against the nuclear waste issue at her beloved San-O.

Despite some mainstream news outlets claims, she does not label herself a “professional surfer” (whatever that even means in this day and age). She is, however, as evidenced by Instagram content, a stylish, cross-stepping, nose-riding longboarder.

It was also said that she’s a “surf instructor,” which may have been true at one point, but perhaps her education at the University of Hawaii, where she’s purportedly studying environmental law, is taking up most of her time these days.

No word on how her and Jonah met, although it likely had something to do with surfing. The actor allegedly first picked up a board in 2019 after he had "been terrified to surf my whole life. Totally random fear and at the same time always been a secret dream of mine. Turned out to be one of the most fun experiences I've ever had.”

Since then, he's been spotted a handful of times at spots like Malibu, one of Sarah's haunts, too. A classic Hollywood meet-cute in the lineup at the 'Bu? Possible.

More to come as this story develops. (Maybe…if we feel like it.)
