Sharpsville 150th celebration kicks off Thursday

Jun. 20—SHARPSVILLE — The borough's 150th anniversary celebrations kicked off Thursday evening with music, games and food, despite high temperatures and humid weather.

Hundreds of people — some seated on benches, while others took advantage of tents to get out of the sun — gathered in Sharpsville Veterans Park, hundreds of people gathered to hear the 2nd Avenue Project band.

Across the street, near the intersection of West Shenango Street and Walnut Avenue, even more attractions were established, with multiple food vendors and carnival games.

Merchandise commemorating Sharpsville's 150th anniversary was also for sale, including T-shirts.

For those who missed Thursday's festivities, the 150th celebration will continue Friday and Saturday.

Musical entertainment includes Soundbite from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, and on Saturday there will be Italian music with DJ Sam Tonelli from 1 to 3 p.m., The Side Effects from 3 to 5 p.m., FX Project from 5 to 7 p.m. and Pipe Dreams from 8 to 10 p.m.

Saturday's celebrations will include a parade at 11 a.m. and fireworks at dusk.
