Sherry McConkey Teases New 'Saucer Boy' Ski Blades

Sherry McConkey, the late Shane McConkey's wife, just announced an exciting collaboration with Jason Levinthal of J Skis: on November 25th, the SB SaucerBoy ProModel X-Treme II is dropping at 11 EST.

Now, we all have the chance to "go sooo off" and "be the king of big mountain snowlerblading."

Shane McConkey, the extreme professional skier who pushed the limits of freeskiing by combining skiing, BASE jumping, and wingsuiting, had another side to him... Saucer Boy.

Shane's cocky, sledding alter-ego made waves as the guy who brought the rowdy good times to the mountain, skis or no skis.

Talking to the ladies, hucking cliffs on snowblades, and generally making a scene in the parking lot, often with Jack Daniels in hand, Saucer Boy is an iconic installment of McConkey's lasting legacy.

Saucer Boy was created in the late '90s when Shane blew his ACL in Alaska and couldn't ski for a Matchstick film (Sick Sense), rendering him temporarily helpless from his usual extreme stunt antics. McConkey couldn't sit on the couch for long, though, and soon enough, a character was born: Saucer Boy.

Saucerboy poked fun of pro skiers and snowboarders who were only after the cash the sport offered by mocking the too-serious side of mountain media, acting as if his "only goal was to go out and get sponsors."

Saucerboy even once mentioned making a pro model for his saucers. "We're gonna come out with a pro model for me. It's going to be the SB SaucerBoy Pro Model."

It didn't end up being saucers, but sure enough, just last year the SB SaucerBoy ProModel X-Treme skis sold out in under an hour. Priced at $420.69, all 150 pairs were bought up same day.

Who better to make the skis than Jason Levinthal, the man behind the first ever twin-tips and the ski company LINE. Now, Jason runs J Skis, the corer-than-core company headquartered in Burlington, Vermont.

This year, 300 pairs of SB SaucerBoy ProModel X-Treme IIs were made, and as of today, almost 50 pairs are already gone from those with early access. Priced at $349, buyers are advised to sign up for the email updates to score a pair before they're gone.

Advertised as "your secret weapon for doing every truck you wish you were good enough to do on regular skis, with half the effort, while looking twice as good," we have a feeling this year's model of the SB SaucerBoys isn't going to last long.

Are you on the email list? Are we going to be fighting at checkout this weekend?

Most importantly... can you stick uphill ice?
