Sign up for summer programs at Gainesville city pool

Apr. 9—Gainesville Aquatic Center activity registration is now open.

People can now sign up and schedule all their pool activities, including aerobics classes, season passes and kids swim lessons, as well as reserving the cabana and pool for parties.

The pool opens for general admission on May 25 and will be open daily from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Daily admission is $6 with kids two years old and younger getting in for free, permitted they are accompanied by an adult. Only one child under two per adult.

Season passes are also available with individual season passes for $80 and family passes for four members for $200. Up to two additional members may be added for $35 per person.

Water aerobics classes are designed for ages 55 years and older. There will be morning and evening sessions, with $5 per session or a $90 season pass.

Swim lessons are available for kids ages four through 16 years old for $55 per student. Session one is Mondays through Thursdays from June 3 through June 13, and Session two is Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 18 through July 11.

Party cabana rental is available for celebrations during general hours. Renting the space is $40 for a two-hour block, either 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. based on your preference. The cabana can also be rented for the entire day for $80.

Private pool parties can be schedules outside of regular hours in two hour increments. Additional hours are available at an additional cost.

Also, don't forget to check out the Dive-In Movies, where people can float or relax by the pool while watching a movie. On June 15, the movie will be "Migration," with "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" on July 20 and "Under the Boardwalk" on Aug. 3. Admission is $6 per person with gates opening at 8 p.m. and the movie starting once it gets dark.

Parks and recreation is also hiring lifeguards for the season. No experience is necessary, but applicants must have current CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Lifeguard Certification including basic first aid.
