Sound The Alarms- Vermont Ski Resort Sees First Flakes Of The Season

East coast skiers rejoice!

Sugarbush Resort took to social media on October 15th, 2023 to share a short video of the season's first flakes falling on the snow stake webcam.

Check out the video below:

It's not much, but even a few measly flakes falling under the cover of night should give east coast skiers something to look forward to.

Sugarbush has set November 18th, 2023 as their targeted opening, conditions and weather permitting.

Winter is coming, and east coasters are hoping that the predictions of a strong El Niño developing in the Pacific Ocean will deliver deep snowfall this season.

YouTube weather forecasters Direct Weather believe that multiple Nor'easters are possible this winter that could bring "Huge Snowstorms".

Northeast ski resorts have had a rough go of it in recent years. Seasons have been plagued by warmer than average temperatures and below average snowfall.

Could El Niño flip the script for Winter '23/'24?

Here's hoping.

Sugarbush is one of the first resorts in Vermont to see snow this season, but their neighbors in New York were sporting a fresh coat of white a week ago.

Whiteface, the east coast's largest ski resort by vertical, saw their first snowfall just last week.

It's only the middle of October, but the season will be here before we know it. It won't be long before snowmaking systems are cranking from North Carolina to Maine and fresh flakes are falling from the sky.
