Southern Living magazine names Austin one of the most friendly cities in the South
We think we're pretty kind 'round these parts, and Southern Living magazine does, too.
The magazine recently compiled a list of the 15th most friendly cities in the South using an online survey with more than 20,000 respondents. Cities must have more than 40,000 residents to qualify for the list.
Austin landed the 13th spot on the ranking, just above Cary, North Carolina, and Bentonville, Arkansas. Southern Living credited Austin's "all are welcome" mentality as reasoning for its placement on the list.
Population: Austin is no longer the 10th most populous city in the US. Here's where it ranks now
We have one problem with the list, though. At No. 12, San Antonio slightly edged Austin. The city's diversity and acceptance of a myriad of cultures make it a bit friendlier than Austin, according to the survey's respondents.
We kindly disagree.
