Best known for its kitchen and bathroom fixtures and accessories, Kohler is trying something new to celebrate its 150th anniversary. The Wisconsin-based company has tapped sculptor Daniel Arsham to create a one-of-a-kind collection called Landshapes, along with a fully equipped luxury cabin you can rent and an art installation you can visit at its headquarters.

This marks the second time the brand has looked to Arsham to design an innovative bathroom collection. The first, in 2020, consisted of 3D-printed bathroom sinks (Rock.01) that sold out in just an hour. “After the success of Rock.01 and mutual desire to redefine experiences, we knew we wanted to collaborate again and in a much larger way,” CEO David Kohler says.

Like Rock.01 sink, which resembles stone shaped over time by water, the Landshapes pieces clearly take inspiration from nature. Glass drawer pulls and knobs recall water droplets, and natural wood mirrors have an organic, free-flowing shape, as do light fixtures inspired by draped fabric.

To preview Arsham’s Landshapes pieces, you can stay in lodgings he designed especially to show them off. The Arsham Cabin at the Destination Kohler resort on Lake Michigan will be available for bookings starting on June 24. “We want our guests to immerse themselves in Daniel’s world as the cabin includes elements that Daniel himself uses in his own home,” Kohler says. “It features the Landshapes collection for an elevated experience as well as furniture and several creative pieces designed and curated by Daniel.”

The lakefront views are only part of the draw to the destination—you might not want to leave the freshly renovated bathroom. It’s outfitted with Landshapes fixtures by Arsham that draw inspiration from nature, emulating the shapes of water droplets and chiseled stone masses, including a monumental freestanding tub. The space also features Kohler WasteLAB tiles (which are made of recycled materials) as well as vanities, a vessel sink, lighting, a mirror, a smart toilet, and decorative glass faucet handles from the upcoming collection.

If you decide you want to bring the fixtures home, you won’t have to wait long. The pieces will be available to purchase this fall.

Should you venture outdoors, you can see more of Arsham’s work on the grounds and golf course. He’s created six large-scale sculptures and designed a line of gear with a similar aesthetic for the golf brand Malbon, which will be available online on June 24 as well.
