Cloudbreak is back.

Well, the crown jewel of Fijian surfing, just off the heart-shaped island of Tavarua, never went anywhere; but it’s back on the Championship Tour docket for 2024.

And so, ahead of next season, a handful of surf world heavies decided to strike mission to Fiji for a little pre-season warmup, coinciding with an absolutely cranking swell. Oh, and Kai Lenny joined, too, doing characteristically Kai Lenny things, of course.

Surfers on-hand included Jack Robinson, Joao Chianca, Yago Dora, and the aforementioned Lenny. For Robbo, it was his first-time surfing Cloudbreak, although judging by the perfectly-timed tube stall on the clip above, who would’ve guessed.

“All the surfers on tour who surfed in Fiji have been missing it, and everybody who never got a chance to surf it is so excited to now have the chance," Slater told the WSL. "The whole surfing world has been missing it, so I want to say a massive ‘vinaka vakalevu’ (thank you very much) for having us back; I can’t wait.”

(As previously reported, Slater hinted at delaying his rumored retirement due to the return of Fiji to the 2024 Championship Tour schedule)

Think these guys are stoked for Fiji’s return to the CT?

Safe to say a resounding, ‘yes.’
