Friends, the footwear world has some major things happening right now. There are about a million, zillion trends to be excited about, from thong and toe ring sandals making a comeback, to the oh-so elegant woven footwear trend, to funky mesh shoes. It can be tough to choose, since all are avenues to more interesting outfits. But sometimes, you need a good old fashioned flat strappy sandal with clean lines for a touch of simplicity to a look—and to flatter the line of the leg. And for that I turn to the Margaux flat sandal.

Now, I've long been a 'Gaux girl, as they call them, so I have many pairs to draw comparison to. After years of wear (they hold up well), the leather ages beautiful and they are all insanely comfortable. One pair in particular, the wrap sandal, which I now have discovered comes in a gorgeous poppy red and will have no choice but to get myself a pair of, has been my go-to for years. It's elegant on the foot, rakes in the compliments, and pairs well with just about every outfit. So when they released the flat sandal, I knew that the rich espresso hue in the embossed snakeskin was a must for me. I was not wrong.
The key difference, of course, is that the flat sandal with the similar criss cross straps at the vamps has an ankle closure. This has made it easier to wear these shoes for even longer, as I don't have to worry about re-tying the straps or them sliding. I just go on my merry way, compliments flowing. I love these sandals and truly believe the modern details like the slightly square toe keep them from looking dated. All in all, I'd say these are worth investing in, in multiple colors, for whatever dressing needs you may find yourself with, whether it's looking for the perfect office sandal, or a flat shoe for a night out.
