The Swiss specialty chemicals company’s dyestuff allows producers to achieve authentic black denim and wash-down effects with a lower impact compared to standard Sulfur Black 1 liquid, which Archroma said is being phased out due to the toxicity of the dyeing process and wastewater contamination.

Unlike traditional synthesis processes, Diresul Evolution Black LIQ does not produce any ammonia, sodium salts waste or liquid effluents, and it consumes 73 percent less water. It cuts energy consumption and CO2 emission by 12 percent as well.

Produced in Spain, Diresul Evolution Black LIQ is manufactured in compliance with ZDHC, Bluesign and REACH requirements. In addition to lower impact clothing, the technology achieves consistent results and is recommend for dark black shade with no bronzing effect.

Ramón Ríos Quintana, Textil Santanderina S.A.’s fashion general manager, said technologies like Diresul Evolution Black LIQ allow the mill’s brand customers to stand out in their markets with new and innovative denim looks and premium-quality fabrics.

Textil Santanderina and Archroma previously collaborated to produce Textil Santanderina’s aniline-free indigo denim collection made with Denisol Pure Indigo.

Umberto De Vita, Archroma’s director, denim market segment, textile effects division, said the chemical company “is rewriting the future of denim for market leaders like Textil Santanderina that want to produce more sustainable collections with high-value aesthetics and top fabric quality.”
