Third Thursday Street Fest tonight

WILLIMANTIC — After rain canceled the Third Thursday event in May, organizers are saying the June version will be special because it happens right on the summer solstice, marking the start of the summer.

“It is also a great month with International Make Music Day, which we will celebrate on the 20th, and it is always colorful and inclusive Pride month as well,” organizer Erin Morelle said. “After the cancellation of the May fest due to weather, we are especially ecstatic to bring the Third Thursday Street Fest in historic downtown Willimantic for June 20.”

Morelle said for the 21st season, they hope to delight, entertain and make people question how much food is too much.

On Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Main Street in downtown Willimantic will open and come alive with vendors to shop, authentic food to enjoy and street performers like an engaging magician and other surprises, according to Morelle.
