LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — On a sunny day at SeaQuest in Lynchburg, one tortoise decided to go for a stroll in the park.

Last week, Stormin’ Norman was caught out and about with SeaQuest worker Kole Troche. Together, they walked through the park and posed for pictures with visitors.

A representative with SeaQuest says Norman is 16 years old and weighs 109 lbs. He is a Giant Sulcata Tortoise, known as the African Spurred Tortoise.

This species can live up to 100 years old and weigh up to 200 lbs. Males can grow up to 30 inches long.

The Sulcata Tortoise is the third largest species of tortoise in the world, after the Galapagos Tortoise and the Aldabra Gain Tortoise.

Stormin’ Norman joined the Hill City’s SeaQuest family in 2019. Since then, he has become a park favorite.
