Vail Resorts' Hunter Mountain Announces New Six-Person Lift

Earlier this week, September 28th, Hunter Mountain, New York, announced the upcoming construction of a new six-person high-speed lift.

The lift is slated to replace the Broadway four-seater chair.

Construction for the new lift is not yet underway, with Hunter Mountain reporting that the project is "subject to approvals." If approved, the resort intends to complete the lift before the 2024-2025 ski season.

In 2019, Vail Resorts announced the acquisition of Hunter Mountain, folding the resort into Vail's ever-expanding portfolio.

Across this portfolio, Vail has initiated several lift-focused capital improvement projects at multiple resorts, named "Epic Lift Upgrades," after the popular Epic Pass purveyed by the conglomerate.

The six-person chairlift project at Hunter Mountain is the latest Epic Lift Upgrade effort at an East Coast Vail resort.

"This change is all part of Vail Resorts' Epic Lift Upgrades initiative, which is making waves across the East region and beyond for its enhancements that reduce lift line wait times and result in more time on the mountain," wrote Hunter Mountain in the Instagram post announcing the project.

Hunter Mountain doesn't plan to decommission the Broadway four-seater after its replacement. Instead, the resort will use the Broadway chair to replace another chair on the mountain: the 2-person fixed-grip E Lift.

"We are excited to bring these significant improvements to Hunter Mountain," said Russ Coloton, Hunter Mountain's general manager. "These upgrades not only enhance the guest experience but also reflect our commitment to the East region and to the learning experience at Hunter Mountain, which has long been our legacy. We look forward to seeing the positive impact these changes will have on our guests.”
