Video: Best Rides and Worst Wipeouts from the Wedge This Year (So Far)
Springtime is like preseason for south swell surf spots in SoCal.
It’s often a harbinger of what’s in store, come peak season; it typically sees some flurries of activity at certain hotspots, yet nothing too crazy; all in all, it’s mostly just a pregame for the party, a sultry tease, a light nibble before the main course.
But this spring has been a bit different. There’s been loads of action to kick things off into the summer south swell season, lighting up usual haunts like The Wedge.
The highlight reel above comes from perennial Wedge filmer, Brent Weldon, who captioned the vid as such:

It’s a 20-minute barrage of wipeouts, epic rides, flips, collisions, chaos, and mayhem. Some of the clips we’ve seen before, yet, when it comes to The Wedge, it rarely gets old.
But this is just the beginning. With a percolating El Niño season in the works, things should get interesting at The Wedge, and elsewhere over the next couple months.
