WATCH: The Most Popular Animated Disney Movies by State
It’s hard to go wrong when it comes to Disney’s treasure trove of animated films. From 1937’s timeless hit, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, to Moana in 2016, for the past eight decades, Disney has been delighting children young and old all over the world.
Disney truly has something for everyone, but that doesn’t mean we can all agree on which of the 37 films released before 1999 (the end of the animation studio’s supposed “Renaissance”) reign supreme. In fact, according to a recent report from CableTV.com, tastes vary considerably, even among neighboring U.S. states.
In a fascinating study, CableTV’s team of analysts made a list of the 25 most popular Disney classic films using title familiarity, popularity, and cultural relevance within Disney theme parks.
After whittling them down, they used Google Trends data to discover which films US states showed the most interest in over the past five years. The results, not surprisingly, were fascinating.
