(L-R) Karishma Cordero and Kishori Turner

Last week saw The Amazing Race 36 kick off, as 13 new teams of two set off in Mexico to start the global adventure of a lifetime. Over the course of the 90-minute premiere, we saw teams struggle to navigate, getting lost in the streets of Puerto Vallarta for hours, while others learned very quickly the number one rule of the race: Read your clue.

Unfortunately for two duos, this week's episode shows the mistakes do not just end with the first leg. The remaining 12 teams are sent to continue their Mexican journey via host Phil Keoghan at the end of the premiere. And, while this week's Detour will have teams choosing between options to get ready for a local fiesta, for two of them, things are far from festive.

In the sneak peek clip above, we see several teams at a face painting station, which we can assume to be the Roadblock for this leg. However, as cousins Kishori Turner and Karishma Cordero and married aerobics instructors Michelle and Sean Clark soon find out, they have egg on their faces to match the paint. They discover via an arriving Juan Villa and Shane Bilek that they missed a crucial stop at Iguana Bridge, namely an entire Detour.

This is obviously shocking and devastating news for the two pairs, both of whom had assumed they were at Iguana Bridge itself and that the Detour was to come. In the past, we've seen teams miss route markers and tasks, causing hours of penalties and usually elimination. And even though there are a dozen teams left, every minute counts. And so we see Kishori and Karishma and Michelle and Sean drop what they're doing, wipe off the paint, and get ready to find the Detour they crucially missed, hoping this costly error won't spell their doom.

Check out the clip above for the full sneak peek. The Amazing Race 36 airs Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. on CBS.
