Why Martha Stewart Has Officially Canceled Her Thanksgiving Dinner

Maybe it's all that tryptophan, but Martha Stewart is simply tired of turkey.

The TV personality and lifestyle mogul recently shocked fans by announcing that she will not be hosting a Thanksgiving dinner this year, despite her nickname as the "Queen of Thanksgiving."

But Stewart just simply isn't feeling this year's Turkey Day, which she explained while appearing on Thursday's episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, admitting that she threw in the towel on the food-centered holiday this year.

"I gave up Thanksgiving. I canceled," Stewart, 82, said. "Nine guests canceled because somebody got sick. So...I called up my chef friend and I said, 'We're not doing Thanksgiving."

The cookbook author went on to explain that she's already had her fill of turkey this holiday season, sharing, "I've also cooked 14 turkeys already for my TV show, and I still have to [cook] one more turkey on the Today show."

"So forget it," Stewart declared. "I am turkey'd out."

But the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover star has a new plan for the upcoming holiday, as she intends to stop by several of her friends' houses to enjoy some of their Thanksgiving cuisine.

"Friends, of course, invited me to their home, so I’m going to about five different homes to taste different courses," she explained.

That's when Clarkson, 41, pointed out that "those friends must be so stressed out," to be cooking for someone who is already such a legend when it comes to holiday food.

"Oh, I hope so," Stewart replied, while Clarkson admitted, "If you were coming to my house, I would for sure lie and say I cooked it and have somebody else do it."

And we can't say we blame her!

Maybe Stewart can take a page from Jenna Bush Hager and sister Barbara's Thanksgiving tradition of ordering Mexican food instead?
