In interior design, it is important to include an accent wall- whether that be a texture element, different paint color, or art covering one entire wall- so that the room doesn't feel so symmetrical. There are many different ways to create an accent wall and one creative woman, Instagram user @wiltshirewonderland shared her genius paint job she did to break up a boring room. Her design is so fun, colorful, and incredibly easy to create with the help of some masking tape, check it out below!

Walls start out as our base foundation in interior design. They are either painted, wallpapered, or texturized. Some folks opt for exhilarating patterns, bright popping colors, or simplistic clay textures. After the base is completed, it comes to decorating walls, adding cool shelving that stands out, creating gallery walls, or designing accent pieces.

Something as simple as adding an accent wall in a room can make the space feel so much more custom, leaving that symmetrical builder-grade look behind.

Using purple masking tape the woman creates symmetrical squares covering the entire wall, top to bottom, side to side. Once the masking tape is fully set in place she uses multiple colors to paint inside the squares, and after it dries she peels off the tape revealing the spunky, whimsical, and colorful checkered pattern.
