With a very on-trend flip.

When you hear that Zendaya is presenting at the Oscars, you wait with bated breath until she appears on the red carpet—and it's always, always worth it. For the 2024 Oscars, the Dune star looked like the absolute definition of Hollywood glamour in one of her go-to all-dressed-up styles, the retro bob.

Zendaya revisited the retro-inspired bob for the awards show, wearing her chocolate brown hair parted deeply to one side. Hairstylist Tai Simon styled the star's just-above-collarbone-length hair in sculpted, softly swooped waves that hugged her cheekbone before flipping out into a cute retro flick at the ends. "On Hollywood’s biggest night it was only right to go with classic glamour waves and flair," Simon shared of the inspo behind the bob. "With her gown being absolutely sublime, it was best to keep her hair demure yet whimsically free-flowing.”

Simon prepped Zendaya's damp hair with a combo of Joico’s Dream Blowout Thermal Protection Creme ($27) and Defy Damage Protective Shield ($28), then set it on T3 hot rollers. After letting the hair cool and releasing it from the rollers, Simon spritzed on a touch of Power Spray Fast-Dry Finishing Spray ($23), then pin-curled each curl to lock in the shape. Before the star headed out the door, Simon applied K-Pak Color Therapy Luster Lock Glossing Oil ($27) for shine and Flip Turn Volumizing Finishing Spray ($23) for hold.

It's obvious why she returns to a variation of the style time and time again, including at the NAACP Image Awards in 2023—it always looks gorgeous, it's a classic style that you can easily tweak to suit the outfit and occasion, and it harkens back to red carpets of yore while still feeling modern and fresh, especially with a sleek, sparkling gown.

Obviously we'd remiss not to mention the dress, and what a gown it was! The actor donned a pink and silver one-shouldered Armani Privé gown with a metallic corseted bodice and pink satin overlay covered in shimmering silver starbursts. Zendaya mimicked the rosy tones of her gown via her makeup, wearing a monochromatic palette of bronze-rose shades on her eyes, cheeks, and lips, not to mention those dangling pink gemstone earrings and minimalist manicure. Absolutely sublime indeed.
