1,000 without power from car crash in east Charlotte; road closed near park

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — More than 1,000 customers were without power after a crash in east Charlotte Friday, Duke Energy officials say.

The outages are due to downed power lines around 2:25 p.m. on Kilborne Drive, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. The road was closed between Markham Court and Wicklow Place.

There was a crash that caused one person to be hospitalized with serious injuries, Medic says.

As of 9:30 p.m., there were still approximately 690 customers without power. Duke officials estimated restoration would occur by 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
