1 dead, 1 injured after South Memphis shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person is dead and another is severely injured after a shooting in South Memphis.

Police responded to South Parkway East near Florida Street at 2:10 p.m. Friday.

North Memphis shooting leaves man injured

Memphis Police say a man was taken to Regional One in critical condition. He later died of his injuries.

Police say another man arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle. He is currently in critical condition.

Surveillance video obtained exclusively by WREG shows two suspects running up the street with guns in their hands, seconds before the shooting happened.

Witnesses say the suspects pulled up in a blue Kia, got out, and started firing shots at the two men. The suspects allegedly then got back into the Kia and fled the scene.

A WREG crew spotted a black Chevy with bullet holes in the door.

Investigators marked at least 22 pieces of evidence in the empty lot where the shooting happened.

A second scene just up the road by the intersection of South Parkway and Pennsylvania appeared to be related to the shooting, but police would not elaborate any further.

Memphis Police say no suspect information is available at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
