One man is dead and seven other people were injured after a shooting early Saturday morning outside a business in Louisville's Russell neighborhood, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police said.

LMPD First Division officers responded to a call of a shooting at approximately 12:47 a.m. outside H20 at 25th and Broadway, spokesperson Aaron Ellis said.

When officers arrived, they found a man outside the business with gunshot wounds, Ellis said. Officers rendered first aid until emergency medical services arrived and pronounced him dead.

Joseph D. Bowers, 40, of Indianapolis, was identified as the victim killed, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.

Another man was also outside the business with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital and his injuries are critical and life-threatening, Ellis said.

Six other people went to hospitals around the area, by private means, with non-life threatening injuries, Ellis said.

Police don't know the relationship of the victims, if any. The LMPD Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting and there are currently no suspects.
