15-year-old dies after collision between dirt bike, transport truck near Edmundston

A 15-year-old from Saint-Basile has died after the dirt bike he was driving and a transport truck collided in Rivière-Verte Thursday.

RCMP responded to the two-vehicle collision on a remote part of Industrielle Road in the northern community near Edmundston around 4:50 p.m, according to a news release issued Friday.

The teen was transported to the hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries, said Cpl. Rémi Beaulieu, of the Saint-Léonard detachment.

No information about how the crash occurred has been released.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death, said Beaulieu.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and the New Brunswick Coroner's Office are assisting with the investigation, he said.

Members of Ambulance New Brunswick and the Edmundston Fire Department also attended the scene.
