The crash was located on Highline Road, south of the intersection of Williams Road, in Bass Lake.

A preliminary investigation revealed that 20-year-old Dabid Flores from Hayward was driving a vehicle north on Highline Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control. The vehicle overturned multiple times before coming to a rest in the east ditch of the northbound lane.

Three passengers in Flores’ vehicle, 19-year-old Reese Frederick of Hayward, a 17-year-old girl, and a 16-year-old girl, also from Hayward, were ejected from the car.

The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office says that Frederick died at the scene of the crash, while the two teenage girls were sent to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Flores received minor injuries and was treated and released from a nearby hospital. He is currently being held in the Sawyer County Jail for second-degree recklessly endangering safety.
