Sawed-off shotgun seized by police in Lancaster County, two charged

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– A sawed-off shotgun in the illegal possession of two men in Lancaster County was seized by police.

The loaded 20-gauge sawed-off shotgun was found at the home of Justin Waltermeyer, 30 and Shawn Welsh, 22, both of Elizabethtown, Northwest Regional Police stated in a news release.

Police were dispatched for reports of multiple gunshots and arrived at a home along Ridge Run Road just after 9:30 on April 7. According to the police report, officers could see the barrel of the shotgun from a window when they arrived.

The duo approached police at the front door, which was also where police say they found the gun, and the duo was taken into custody.

According to online court documents, both of them face a felony charge of persons not to posses firearms and a misdemeanor charge of prohibited offensive weapons.

Welsh is currently locked up in Lancaster County Prison with bail set at $20,000 while Waltermeyer is out on unsecured bail that was set at $95,000.
