3 injured, 1 dead after ‘domestic-related shooting’ at Antioch apartment complex, police say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Three people — including one child — were injured and one person is dead following a Sunday shooting in Antioch, according to authorities.

Metro Nashville dispatch said the shooting was reported shortly after noon on Sunday, March 10 in the 300 block of Bakertown Road.

Don Aaron, a public information officer for the Metro Nashville Police Department, described the incident at the Baker Station complex as a “domestic-related shooting involving individuals from Central America.”

According to officials, a man who used to live at the apartment with a 31-year-old woman showed up at the residence, already armed, and started shooting as soon as he got inside, leaving two women and a child wounded before he turned the gun on himself and died at the scene.

Police said a 31-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman were brought to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition due to life-threatening injuries.

However, a 7-year-old boy reportedly ended up with non-life-threatening injuries, so he is stable at the hospital and has been able to speak with detectives. Law enforcement told News 2 the shooting happened on the boy’s birthday.

Authorities said the 21-year-old woman’s 7-month-old daughter was home at the time of the shooting, but she wasn’t injured.

On Monday, police said the suspect was identified as 25-year-old Emilio Ramirez Lopez. Law enforcement described Lopez as the 31-year-old woman’s estranged boyfriend, adding that he met her in Kansas City and lived at her Antioch apartment for some time.

No additional details have been released about Sunday’s deadly incident.
