$7k in damages reported after garage fire on Feather Road in Vinton

VINTON, Va. (WFXR)– Roanoke County Fire and Rescue reports no one was injured after a fire on Feather Road in Vinton on Friday, June 21.

According to the fire department, crews responded at 12:03 p.m. to the 1800 block on Feather Road on a report of a residential structure fire. Units marked the scene as a working fire after finding a two-story wood-frame house with smoke showing from an attached garage.

The department reports they were able to bring the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes.

The occupant of the home was alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms and was able to escape the residence with their two cats and one dog unharmed.

No one will be displaced and there were no injuries reported.

The Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office reports that the cause of the fire was electrical in nature and caused approximately $7,000 in damage.
