Abilene man accused of burglary with intent to commit sex offense

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – An Abilene man has been accused of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit sexual assault.

According to recently released documents, Jaquarius Harper allegedly broke into an apartment in the 2000 block of South Clack in April. He is accused of sexually assaulting a woman who was asleep on a couch inside of an apartment.

The victim reported that when she woke, she saw a tall black male with a black hoodie leaning over the couch and inappropriately touching her. She yelled for her sister, who was also in the apartment. The man ran to another part of the apartment, and the victim, her sister, and her sister’s kids ran out of the apartment and called the police.

Police found Harper after surrounding the apartment complex and spoke to a witness, who said they saw Harper crawling out of a window. He was taken into custody after he was found hiding near an outbuilding of the complex.

Police found a black hoodie and an ankle monitor that Haper was supposed to wear near the woman’s apartment. Police also discovered a bag containing video game consoles and controllers, which the victims claimed as theirs.

Harper was arrested in April and remains in the Taylor County Jail on a 355,000 bond.
