Daniel J. WIlson, 38, of Bridgewater, was taken into custody 12:24 a.m. March 26 in the 200 block of NW Walnut Street in Bridgewater on the charges of domestic assault — bodily injury and child endangerment.

According to an Adair County report, at approximately 11:09 p.m. March 25 a disturbance in which children were screaming inside of an apartment was reported. The reporting party was unsure if there was a fight inside or what the cause of the screaming was.

When deputies arrived, a male, later identified as Wilson, was observed entering the apartment where the noise was reported as coming from. While in the hallway of the building deputies could hear voices inside get loud and begin to argue as well as what sounded like children crying inside of the apartment.

Wilson answered the door and a female and two minor children were observed to be in the apartment. Wilson had a scratch on his forehead. He was asked to step into the hallway and speak with deputies. Wilson told him he and the female had been together for a long time but were in the process of separating. He admitted he had put his hands on the female first, which caused her to strike him and cause the marks on his face. He also said he took the victim's phone out of her hands and threw it on the ground, breaking the screen.

The victim told deputies a similar story of the events. She stated he had put his hands around her neck but did not squeeze, but the action caused her to fear for her safety. She admitted once the first physical contact ended, she slapped Wilson on the back of the head with three fingers. The victim had a series of scratches on her neck near where she described Wilson's hands had been.

The children in the apartment were in the room sleeping where the altercation took place and made statements about the couple fighting.

Wilson was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.
