LAUREL, Md. (DC News Now)—Police in Prince George’s County are investigating after someone vandalized an Angela Alsobrooks campaign sign.

“KKK” was written across the bottom of the sign and a crosshair symbol was drawn on Alsobrook’s forhead.

This comes as the candidate is running to be the first black woman elected as U.S. Senator in Maryland.

Virginia Primary Election: Everything you need to know

Gina Ford, campaign spokesperson for Alsobrooks, said in a statement, “We were made aware of this very unsettling incident, and our paramount concern is Angela’s safety. However, this sort of hateful threat will not deter Angela or her campaign. Police are investigating the matter.”

Republican opponent Larry Hogan is also speaking out.

Hogan wrote on X, “threats of violence, and racism must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. They have no place in Maryland.”
