Arizona senator puts ignorance on display with stunning call to put Jesus in government

Surprising to see Sen. Anthony Kern coming out on Thursday for Donald Trump’s Town Hall in Phoenix.

Kern, as you may recall, is Arizona’s speaking-in-tongues state senator, the indicted fake elector who wants the Ten Commandments posted on classroom walls.

And Trump? Well, check out Commandment No. 7.

Kern wants Jesus 'back into our government'

In an interview last week, Kern went full-on Christian nationalist, defending his now-vetoed Ten Commandments bill with the usual blather about godly Republicans and demonic Democrats.

“In short, Republicans, they want our kids to learn about God,” Kern told Victory News. “Democrats want our kids to have nothing to do with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. They don’t want to mention it. They’d rather have abortions and they’d rather have transgender surgery behind parents’ back.”

I suppose I could turn that around and say that Kern wants nothing to do with the United States Constitution (something you might already have guessed from his role as a fake elector).

In just a two-minute interview, Kern, who is now running for Congress, offered a glaring view of just how ignorant he is about American history, noting that Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs vetoed his bill citing separation of church and state.

“As you and I both know and many Americans out there, separation of church and state is absolutely a lie and we have got to elect leaders in government that is willing to bring Jesus Christ back into our government,” he said.

“It’s all throughout the Bible. Our Christian heritage in this country is very biblical and we’ve got to bring that back in order for this country to turn around.”

Founders kept Christianity out of key documents

In fact, America was founded as a secular nation.

Our founders believed in a supreme being, but you won’t find the words Jesus Christ or Christian Nation in any of our founding documents.

The Declaration of Independence mentions a “Creator” but doesn’t name him.

Christianity isn’t mentioned in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights.

Kern steps in it again: With a pro-Hitler talk show host

Consider the First Amendment, which dictates “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ... .”

Or the words of Thomas Jefferson, who said that when the American people adopted the Establishment Clause they built a “wall of separation between the church and state.”

Consider the Treaty of Tripoli, signed by John Adams in 1797 and ratified by the U.S. Senate (unanimously) — the one that states, “the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian Religion … .”

This is about as un-American as you can get

Now — and I say this as a lifelong Christian — consider the words of the learned Sen. Kern, who speaks in tongues on the Senate floor and apparently is determined to lead the way to force us all to bended knee.

To believe, only as he does. Worship, only as he does.

Live, only as he does. (Well, except for Commandment No. 9.)

“We’ve got bring Jesus Christ back into our government,” Kern says.

Seems to me that’s about as un-American as you can get.
