LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Following a deadly shooting at a Fordyce grocery store, several officials have issued statements offering their condolences to the victims.

The incident happened Friday afternoon when several law enforcement agencies were called to a shooting near the Mad Butcher grocery store.

“I have been briefed on the tragic shooting in Fordyce, and I’m in constant contact with State Police at the scene. I am thankful to law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic action to save lives. My prayers are with the victims and all those impacted by this,” Gov. Sanders stated on X, the platform previously known as Twitter.

Attorney General Tim Griffin also issued a statement on X expressing his condolences to this involved.

“I am following the developments and information coming out of Fordyce after a gunman senselessly opened fire outside a grocery store earlier today. My thoughts and prayers are with the wounded, including the law enforcement officer who was shot, as well as the families of the two people who were killed,” Griffin said.

Sen. Tom Cotton asked for prayers for the victims.

“Please join me in prayer for the victims of the shooting in Fordyce and gratitude for the skill and courage of the law-enforcement officers and first responders,” Cotton stated.

Sen. John Boozman also reacted to the shooting, stating he is heartbroken by the violence.

“I’m heartbroken by the horrific violence in Fordyce and grateful for the courage and bravery of law enforcement officers and first responders. Cathy and I are praying for the victims of this senseless act,” Boozman stated.

Rep. Bruce Westerman posted a statement on X expressing gratitude for the response from law enforcement and first responders.

“I’m grateful for the quick response by law enforcement and first responders on the scene in Fordyce this afternoon. My office is in contact with local officials and I will continue to monitor the situation as details emerge. My prayers are with the victims and their families, and the entire Fordyce community,” Westerman posted.

Rep. Steve Womack posted on X about being heartbroken to hear about the shooting.

“Heartbroken to hear of the shooting in Fordyce today. I’m thankful for our heroic law enforcement and first responders who acted quickly to save lives. My prayers are with the victims and their families,” Womack stated.

Rep. French Hill also expressed gratitude for the first responders and law enforcement that jumped into action.

“I am grateful to our brave law enforcement officers and first responders for their swift action to save lives today. My prayers are with the victims, their families, and the Fordyce community during this heartbreaking time,” Hill posted.

In a post on X, Lieutenant Governor Leslie Rutledge offered her condolences to the family’s of the deadly shooting.

“Devastating news coming out of Fordyce today. My sincerest prayers are with all of the victims and their families, our first responders, especially the injured law enforcement officers, and the entire Dallas County community affected by this needlessly tragic act of violence. ” Rutledge stated.

According to an update from Arkansas State Police, 11 people were shot, three died. ASP officials also said that two officers were shot.

Police said that the suspect was injured and has been taken into custody.
