‘Uncooperative’ suspect pepper sprayed, arrested near Sacramento Zoo

(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Police Department said it arrested a man near the Sacramento Zoo on Friday who was reportedly armed with a gun.

Police said around 1 p.m. on Friday that its officers were at the scene working on negotiations with the armed man near Land Park Drive and 17th Avenue.

Around 1:45 p.m., police said they were still at the scene working to negotiate a “peaceful surrender” of the suspect.

Just before 2:15 p.m., police said they managed to take the suspect into custody safely after deploying a few PepperBall rounds.

Police added that they learned the man did not have a gun, but was uncooperative with police and pepper sprayed before being taken into custody.
