Arrest made in Royal Street Mardi Gras night triple shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Police Department have announced the arrest of a man in connection with a triple shooting that happened on Royal Street in February.

On Feb. 14, the NOPD reported that officers responded to the 100 block of Royal Street around 12:23 a.m., where a man allegedly took out a gun and began shooting at three women who were arguing before leaving the scene.

NOPD officials said the women were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Following an investigation, NOPD detectives said they identified 23-year-old Michael Bates-Browder as the suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest.

On Monday, April 15, NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick announced Bates-Browder’s arrest in connection with the investigation.

NOPD officials said police in Georgia arrested Bates-Browder, and he was transported back to New Orleans on April 11.

Bates-Browder faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery by shooting, criminal damage to property, illegal carrying of a weapon, illegal use of weapons and obstruction of justice.
