Arts community gains another new leader
Jun. 19—A long-time advocate of the arts is stepping into a leadership role with the Performing Arts Association of St. Joseph.
Paul Storiale, new executive director, has been involved in the arts for most of his life. Storiale began performing in middle school.
After growing up outside of Chicago, he went on to work as an actor in the city for several years. He then lived in Los Angeles for over a decade, running five theaters and advocating for the arts while holding a position in the local government.
Storiale has gone on to work in Wyoming and Alabama and is excited to begin in St. Joseph.
"The energy from the board kind of made me realize how special St. Joe is, and actually coming to visit before," Storiale said. "I came to visit before the interview and I just fell in love with the Downtown area and I can see what's gonna be happening here in the next 10 years and I'm really excited to be a part of that."
Storiale said he has had a very warm welcome.
"I just love St. Joseph and the people," Storiale said. "The patrons especially; they're calling in to meet me, they're coming in to meet me. They're very excited for this new chapter and it's really nice talking to them all and getting to know them."
The Performing Arts Association is entering its 45th season, and Storiale said the group has a great season ahead of them.
"It's going to be very entertaining," Storiale said. "A lot of wonderful music, and an array of different programming too. So it's not just for one type of appreciation of the arts, we've got all kinds."
