Auditor releases details on 2 Quad Cities communities

Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand has released detail of audits or two Quad Cities communities.

The first is Blue Grass, where in fiscal year 2023 Sand reported eight findings related to the disbursement of taxpayer funds.

Sand says the fire department operates a budget separate from the city’s, and balances were not included in the city’s account record.s. Sand says the fire department’s account should be integrated with the city’s accounting records.

Sand also looked into records for Princeton, Iowa, and discovered 16 findings during the same time period. The city’s fire department also has a separate account, which Sand says needs to be integrated. Other findings include lack of financial oversight, segregation of duties and no supervisory review of time sheets.
