Aurora Fire Rescue: 5 taken to hospital after chemicals leak in pool

DENVER (KDVR) — Five people were taken to local hospitals after a pump leaked pool chemicals in the air Friday afternoon.

Aurora Fire Rescue responded to the hazardous materials incident at an outdoor pool near Del Mar Park.

According to a post from Aurora Fire, maintenance crews “found a pump leaking pool chemicals into the air and shut it down before AFR’s arrival.”

The hazardous materials team with Aurora Fire evacuated the pool, monitored air quality and treated people who sustained injuries. A total of seven people sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and five of them were taken to nearby hospitals.

Aurora Fire Rescue said the pool is waiting for repairs and has been closed because of weather conditions.
