Authorities investigating cause of fire at Kiel Foundry, no injuries reported

KIEL, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Calumet County are investigating a fire that occurred at a manufacturing plant on Friday night.

According to a release, firefighters from the Kiel Fire Department were sent to the Kiel Foundry at 304 Park Avenue for a report of a fire.

A citizen reported that the fire alarms were sounding from the outside of the building, and smoke was visible from the roof.

Crews arrived on the scene, forced entry into the building, and started an offensive fire attack within minutes of arriving.

Kiel Foundry had a working sprinkler system that assisted in the fire suppression efforts. Firefighters got the flames under control within 30 minutes.

The origin of the fire is undetermined at this time, but officials believe it originated in the building’s ceiling.

There were no injuries to citizens or firefighters, and there is no damage estimate at this time.

The Kiel Fire Department wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing working smoke detectors and ensuring they are in proper working order.
